The
M5109 traumatic brain injury impactor is a device that utilizes the
principle of free fall and consists of a standard stereotaxic base, a
free fall impactor, weights, and a firing pin. It is mainly used to
create animal models of traumatic brain injury.
The device uses a
base to fix the animal's head without any relative movement, moves the
impact bracket to locate the impact site, and then uses the principle of
free fall to accurately control the impact position and force by
selecting weights of different weights and limit devices, causing
varying degrees of damage to the animal's skull and brain. It does not
require computer software control to create highly repetitive brain
injury models, and has the characteristics of simple operation, strong
practicality, and high cost-effectiveness. Mainly used in neuroscience
research to establish experimental models for small animals such as
mice, rats, and guinea pigs.
